Two Heads Are Better Than One...

I've been thinking a lot about Egypt.
I've been thinking a lot about the punk rock ethos. I've taken hits for it before, but fuck it, shit doesn't get done without it. That's what's happening in Egypt right now - out with the old, in with the new, and the we're not going to take it anymore attitude will prevail.

The mob rules. It always will.

If you do not give it to us, we're gonna take it.

And they're taking it. Obviously.

101.

My life pales in comparison to this plight. I'm jittery. I'm sad. I'm trying not to hurt people and at the same time trying to woo others.

To what end?

Happiness.

I sit here in Brooklyn, NY - USA and listen to podcasts, and music and I'm actually able to take photographs of myself to post here. Whilst drinking wine, and talking to friends and wishing that I was somewhere else, with someone else, but never in fear of bombs or the Police.

I'm lucky.

I'm lucky.

Remind yourself of that. Often. Me. You.

It's really fucked up out there...

We don't have it so bad at all. Grab someone you love and kiss them.

It might mean nothing, something, everything.

Take your last breath...

I do often.

It's So Easy To Seperate The Rights From The Wrongs...

"I’ve had it with you fucking clowns
I’ve had it with you all chasing me
I just want a little peace and quiet
You fucking clowns are destroying me

I don’t want to answer the telephone
I don’t want to talk at all
I just want the clowns to leave me alone
I don’t want the clowns to call

We’d all be better off
If we gave each other a little space
Take your make up off now
Look in the mirror at your face

And as sure as it’s off
You’ll put it right back on
Cause that’s what you clowns do
Do this, leave me and the children alone"

We Know The Night

So...

I listened to American Music Club all last night. And then again today. It's a mood. And not necessarily a good one. Not necessarily a bad one, either.

I walked into one of my favorite watering holes tonight and upon my entrance, long coat, all dressed in black, my friend Howard said (in a wonderful British accent) "You look like a vampire."

And I think it was a compliment.

So, I abandoned AMC - too sad. And I went straight to Westerberg.

This is a celebration.

High as a kite on my life right this second, believe it or not.

Stuff coming up. And yeah, it's time to feed...

What Will We Do?

I know that you're thinking...

You're so smart.

I am so fucking tired of:

People not caring.
People not getting it.
People just fucking being people.
People not seeing and reacting.
People telling me what to think.
People in general.

People.

Ever think about the spelling of the word 'people?'

It's just wrong, as wrong as, well,

PEOPLE.

Here's what you do when you think you're getting away with it...

Nothing.

All I need is some time, and I'll get everything right.

Just Stop

Seriously. Just stop.

But, I digress. I'll get back to it.

I think I want to get on stage again. Lit-ra-lly.

I did it several times with my friend James' encouragement at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe on the LES back in 2002, I think. James is a master of storytelling, so I trusted him and he pushed me on the stage. And I was nervous as shit, but it was perfectly gratifying. And oddly satisfying. I did five minutes each on my family, clowns, and guns.

Obviously, my experience with each and all.

And I killed.

Imagine how much I could do on photography...

I've been listening to a lot of "What The Fuck," which is Marc Moran's podcast where he interviews fellow comedians about the art of comedy - the philosophy of comedy - and how hard it is to basically express yourself, in a humorous OR non-humorous way.

Listen.

Anyway, back to "stopping it,"

I want to stop it. For a good reason. For to save my life.

And gentlemen never tell...

Poops...

Yeah, I'm talking to you. About the duck, about you bringing your friends to dinner. About the walrus thing you do, about the clawing and moving across the floor. About you loving the ladies. More than me.

Although, it was really sweet when you snuggled with me after my hellish Greyhound ride.

But that only lasted one night and then you were back to your independent ways.

Perfect.

Daddy's Gone.

But not really. Not ever.

Bio

I was born in Raleigh, NC and raised Southern Baptist.

Neither "took."

Today, I live in "the city of churches," Brooklyn, but I don't attend one.

I shoot photographs instead.
I shoot portraiture, fashion, myself and naked girls.

Once upon a time, I went to school and studied film, both still and motion picture.

I worked on the camera crew on a Guns 'n' Roses video once. Seriously.

I was recently published in Taschen's "The New Erotic Photography," which is a goofy title.

My first monograph, "Some of This is True," has been published by Luxxus Press this year. I think it's a fantastic title and I didn't think of that one either.

Regarding my work, people ask me about what's "erotic" and why "erotica" and naked girls and stuff.

I don't know the answer to that.

I think of my work as a single frame from a non-existent film with an embedded soundtrack.

2011 is going to be better than 2010.

I can already tell...

Hard To Impress

'Well, it's been a long time
How should I feel?
What can I say?
With fantastic stories
You present yourself
In different ways
Some particular places
Remembered so well
Are hard to forget
We've travelled so far now
Then, we were young
Hard to impress

But, she comes and goes
The other side of life
Sheltering only
The other side of life

These single occasions
We seem to share
Stumble and fall
If you could remember to wave
A sign of life my way

But, she comes and goes
The other side of life
Sheltering only
The other side of life'
